The CFA designation is given to professionals who complete the CFA program and meet work experience requirements. The program is designed for members of the financial industry such as investment analysts and wealth managers, as well as finance students pursuing an investment management career.
CFA program applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and should have completed a combined total of 4,000 hours of higher education and/or work experience. The CFA certification consists of a three-part exam: Level I, Level II, and Level III. The first two levels are comprised of multiple-choice questions, whereas Level III also includes response-based questions.
CFA candidates must pass all three exams. To earn the CFA designation, they are also required to join the CFA institute and provide evidence of 4,000 work hours in the investment field.
